Something to Celebrate...
Most Fridays at Whirlwind, we do a little something called The Impossible Shot, in which a few students are invited to stand in the front of the Loft and shoot a Finger Rocket, trying to hit a target in the balcony of the Loft. In the four years that we've been doing this, no one has ever succeeded... until last Friday when Sammie, an 8th grade girl, hit the impossible shot. Needless to say there was much rejoicing! We will now need to rename this challenge The Improbable Shot.
Something to Pray from the Book of Uncommon Prayer...
GOD, you are important. You are the most important. But we have a tendency to put things ahead of you. We love money, we love stuff, and we seem to pray to anything that will make our piles of stuff bigger. Help us get it straight, God. You build us from the inside out, not the outside in. Teach us to be satisfied with what we have and who we are instead of constantly desiring more and better. We will give glory to you and not to the television billionaire. We will sing our praises to you and not to the one in the spotlight. We will tank you for all you have given us and not the Internet. Help us spend as much time with you and we do with all those things that distract us from you. Amen.
